After Park Tavern, Osceola Park's Fall Runs Along Swinton Avenue

Where does an Osceola Park evening go now that the tavern a block off Atlantic served its last meal? For 15 years, a walk north up SE 2nd Avenue often ended at 32 SE Second Ave. Its reported final day was Sunday, October 18.

The fall's dated events and announced restaurant openings mostly sit along the Swinton Avenue side of downtown: the Old School Square campus, Sundy Village at Swinton and Atlantic, and SW 5th Avenue. Here is that calendar, in order, starting tonight.

The Corner That Closed Sunday

Park Tavern posted its farewell on social media. As reported by Boca Magazine, the post read:

"As we prepare to close our doors, we're raising a glass to the guests, team members and community who made Park Tavern what it is. Join us for one last bite."

The restaurant never posted a closing date. According to Boca Magazine, an administrator of a local community Facebook group posted that the final dinner service would be October 18. The Palm Beach Post later reported that Sunday, October 18 would be the last day, as cited by Miami New Times. Commenters on the announcement mentioned the happy hour, the Sunday brunch and the espresso martinis.

Boca Magazine counts Park Tavern as the fourth Atlantic Avenue restaurant to close in 2026, after True Vegan, Lefkes Estiatorio and Cut 432. True Vegan is moving to West Palm Beach. Park Tavern's owner, Modern Restaurant Group, still runs El Camino, which has a Delray Beach location.

The closing leaves a gap at the closest dinner-and-drinks stop on the SE 2nd Avenue walk. The rest of this calendar points the other way.

Tonight on SW 5th Avenue

The first stop is tonight, Thursday, October 22. Sounds of The Set runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Libby Wesley Plaza, 2 SW 5th Ave. The Downtown Delray listing promises live music and local vendors along SW 5th Avenue.

This block is also getting a new mural. The Delray Beach CRA has chosen an artist duo to paint a mural at 95 SW 5th Ave. In its August announcement, contract approval and community design outreach were still to come, and no completion date was given.

Downtown Delray Restaurant Month also runs through October 31. That leaves one more full weekend of it after tonight.

Saturday, October 24 Lands on One Campus

Two of the season's biggest downtown events fall on the same Saturday, at the same address. The Delray Beach GreenMarket opens its 31st winter season at Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Ave. Downtown Halloween also ends its parade there. Here is how the day lays out, based on the CRA's GreenMarket announcement and the Downtown Delray Halloween page:

  1. 8 to 11 a.m. The 15th Annual Witches of Delray Ride starts at City Hall and finishes at Old School Square. It benefits the Achievement Centers for Children & Families.
  2. 9 a.m. The GreenMarket opens with more than 70 local growers, makers and food vendors. Look for produce, grass-fed beef, fresh-caught seafood, citrus, eggs, artisan cheese, baked goods, flowers and live music, plus an on-site cooking area with seating. SNAP benefits are accepted.
  3. 11 a.m. Kidsfest begins at Old School Square. Trick-or-Treating on the Avenue starts along Atlantic Avenue with participating merchants.
  4. 1 p.m. Trick-or-treating ends and the Halloween Parade steps off from Federal Highway toward Old School Square. Anyone in costume can join.
  5. 2 p.m. The GreenMarket closes for the day.
  6. 3 p.m. Kidsfest wraps up.

The parade's direction is the clearest picture of where downtown's weekend gathers this fall. It starts at Federal, the edge closest to Osceola Park's east side, and moves west to the Swinton campus. The market then stays at Old School Square every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., through May 22, 2027.

The CRA started the GreenMarket in 1996. It runs a winter season and a summer season each year, and this opening day starts the longer winter run.

The Next Two Weeks Stay North and West

After Saturday, the dated events keep landing near the same intersection.

Date Event Where Details
Friday, Oct. 30 12th Annual Fall Fest Delray Beach Historical Society, 3 NE 1st St. 5 p.m.; $25, children 12 and under free
Sunday, Nov. 1 Coco Market Wellness Festival Delray Beach Amphitheatre at Old School Square 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 6 First Friday Art Walk Downtown galleries and cultural centers 6 to 9 p.m.; stops include Easton Art Galleries, 21 W. Atlantic Ave., and Arts Garage, 94 NE 2nd Ave.

The Fall Fest listing puts the Historical Society's event a block north of Atlantic, around the corner from Old School Square. The Coco Market sets up in the amphitheatre on the same campus as the GreenMarket. The Art Walk spreads out more widely, but Easton Art Galleries sits at 21 W. Atlantic, just west of Swinton.

On the east side, the opening news this month is about fitness. [solidcore] listed a grand opening for Saturday, October 17, at 27 SE 4th Ave., per the Downtown Delray calendar. The pull toward Swinton is about where to eat and gather. Errands and workouts are still landing on the east side too.

The Tables Coming to Swinton and Atlantic

Most of the restaurant openings announced for this part of downtown are clustered in Sundy Village, at the southwest and northwest edges of Swinton and Atlantic.

  • Double Knot, 22 W. Atlantic Ave., Suite 150. Open since at least June 19, 2026, according to Boca Magazine. This is the anchor that's already open.
  • Maman, 40 S. Swinton Ave. The New York-born café chain was expected "later this summer" back in May. The Boca Raton Observer reported on October 1 that the Delray café will open in November. No exact date has been given.
  • Drinking Pig BBQ, 22 W. Atlantic Ave. The Palm Beach Post reported in June that it planned to open in September. As of this week, the Downtown Delray business listing still says "Coming Soon."

Maman sits on Swinton itself, south of Atlantic. That puts it on the side of downtown that faces Osceola Park. Once it opens, a morning coffee in November can be one walk north up Swinton, and on Saturdays it sits a short stretch from the GreenMarket on the same avenue.

How the Map Reads for Late October

Here is the weekly rhythm for anyone walking from Osceola Park. Thursday has free music on SW 5th Avenue. Saturday mornings now have a 70-plus-vendor market at 51 N. Swinton through late May. Sundy Village has one restaurant open and two more on the way. Meanwhile, the long-running happy-hour stop at 32 SE Second Ave. has served its last meal. For now, the closest planned additions to an Osceola Park evening are the Sundy Village restaurants at Swinton and Atlantic and Maman at 40 S. Swinton, due in November.

At The Creegan Team, we follow what opens and closes around every Delray address we represent, because the café a block away and the Saturday market up the street end up in how a home is presented.
